For the safety of our students, please do not drop your children off at school before 8:20 a.m. as there is no supervision outside prior to this time. All late arrivals (after 8:45) must come to the office and be signed in by an adult.
To maximize instructional time during the school day by reducing and minimizing interruptions in the classroom, the elementary schools follow a six-day rotational schedule. By doing this, we are able to provide longer blocks of uninterrupted time for language arts, math, and additional core subjects. In addition, our students have benefited from greater consistency and predictability within the school day, having Encore/MAPELs subjects such as Music, Art, Physical Education, Library, at the same time each day.
A six-day rotation does not mean there are six days of school. Instead of defining a school week as Monday through Friday, we use six days (labeled DAY: 1,2,3,4,5,6) and use them to cycle throughout the school year. So, for example, Day 1 will fall on Thursday, September 1, to begin the school year. On ‘NO SCHOOL DAYS’ we simply go to the next day in the rotation when we return. In the case of snow or inclement weather days, we simply move to the next day in the rotation upon our return. The important piece is for you to know which day of the cycle we are on. This is important to ensure your child is prepared and have the necessary materials for their Encore/MAPEs subjects. Many of you will be comfortable with this cycle from using it in past school years.

Get Involved
Volunteers allow us to provide more services, better programs and a more pleasant learning environment for our students. We have been fortunate to have parents who are willing to help out during the school year. If you wish to volunteer in school or as a chaperone on a field trip, please fill out a volunteer application/background check form and return it to the school office. A new background check is required to be filled out every school year.
We hope you consider participating in whatever degree possible in our Parent Teacher Organization. The PTO provides support for Roosevelt teachers, staff and students, as well as their families in order to make their educational experience the best it can be.
